I saw the girls on Americas Next Top Model lighting themselves with hand-helds a few weeks ago...its a nice twist to a portrait.

Yes, that was really annoying because I'd done this in the past [link] (with India last October) then bought the new battery powered ones and the week after Nigel bloody whatsit was doing it on TV.....thus making everyone think I copied his idea!!!! Not to mention these in January [link]

I know I'm not the first to do it by any means and certainly won't be the last, but the timing of his was shite!!!!

Nigel Barker is an incredible hack! I see nothing original or spectacular about his work... that's why Tyra calls him "noted fashion photographer" instead of "award-winning", "world famous", or "highly acclaimed"! If only she accepted fan messages on any of her websites... I'd definitely suggest a switcheroo between Nigel & you!

story of everyones lives...Ive seen it done endlessly by many and I was gonna try my own twist to it then saw ANTM and thought 'oh, shite'

but we all have different styles so its a 'diverse' idea, and one to continually be used I think

I really, really like how you make the wide-angle work for portraits! it's really difficult (at least I find it difficult) but you seem to have the eye for it. I need to experiment with it more. I like how you work with the contrast between the location and model/styling. I wonder here; in what kind of world this situation could happen? some post-nuclear world? or was it some kid-napping? or some strange, strange fashion show at abandoned factory? or combination of those, or perhaps something totally different...

That's really great to hear - thank you.

One of the reasons I didn't go to MFDB's is the lack of truly wide angle lenses. It is something I have always loved, since I used to be a huge fan of Bill Brandt in the early eighties.
