Click the image above to get to the gallery of gloves.

PLEASE BE SURE TO DOWNLOAD THE GLOVE IMAGE AS SOON YOU HAVE CHOSEN IT - I HIDE THEM ONCE I HAVE RECEIVED THE REQUEST!!!!

UPDATE 3: Okay, so only half a dozen gloves taken means I will have to open it up to a wider audience (I would really appreciate a kind person offering to help get this in front of the literature people here on DA -  I have no idea how to go about it!!!).
Also, if you do choose one from Flickr, be sure to download it as soon as you choose, because once they are chosen, I hide them so as to avoid confusion.

UPDATE 2: I should add that the written element can be in ANY form - poetry, Haiku, play/script or plain old prose. It doesn't have to be a strict school-essay type of thing - the whole point is the creativity PLUS they will all be sub-edited for grammar etc, so there is really no reason to be scared of doing one.
They are starting to be taken though, so if you want to do one, please choose and notify me of the number by note to here (DA).

UPDATE: Okay, so that went down well!!!!!!!! Can anybody perhaps offer some advice on how I should get this publicised in the writing/literature place here on DA?? Maybe a news article would work...how do I go about that?

Around the turn of the Century, I embarked upon a personal project, having gone freelance as a photographer a year or so previously.
I wanted to capture the motivation that had drawn me into photography in the first place, some 16 years before.
I had always had a fascination with lost gloves.....not so much the one that I found, but it's former partner – Perhaps still living it's life of Reilly; a downtrodden tumult in the back-room of an abattoir; mixing with fading glamour-queens in the smoky back-room of a canal-side bar.

Everybody sees them or has seen them at some time, but more than likely passed them by...... too busy with their own thoughts of frizz-free hair or what time the tube would depart (without them on it).

So, in earnest, I started to collect them: I took plastic sleeves with me on every journey; I kept as much integrity to the shape of how they were found as possible; I numbered them and referenced the locations; I photographed each and everyone in the upstairs back bedroom of my house – I had a studio-stand permanently in place over a lightbox and a Hasselblad with a ringflash attached at all times. I bought dozens of rolls of the same batch of transparency film, so as to keep the colours consistent.
A labour of love, or should that be a labour of glove!?!?!?
I called the project 'Unrequited Glove', alluding to the un-lost of the pair, then when finished I sat back and wondered what what to do with it. I was frightened of putting it 'out there', lest somebody copied the idea and with more marketing motivation than I could ever have, would gain huge plaudits for it's creation.
So, I did nothing – except to show it to a gallery curator in Salford Art Gallery (used to be in the Old Fire Station on the Crescent) and I remember his name was Richard. He said that as photographs, they were nothing special and that I perhaps needed to have something else with them..... a short piece about the location they were found in or something similar.

Time passed and I decided to ask a few writer friends to choose their favourite glove and concoct a story for it's lost partner – the life it had lead or was leading. The loss felt by the owner; the history attached to it's patina.
They were remarkably powerful when viewed in or out of context and my motivation kicked back in. BUT, soon after I had my 'accident' and everything went back to hold – a further six years on and the time seems somehow right to rise the phoenix.
This is how I would like to proceed: I know there are lots of writers here on DA, but I'm not sure how to get the message across, so any help would be appreciated. I would like a person to choose one of the gloves from the gallery (when it has been chosen, it will be removed from view), then when they are all done I will assemble them into a book which will be available to buy online.

So, first call goes to all watchers here on DA. Please mail me with your chosen number and I will hide them as they are chosen – there needs to be a connection between you and the glove you choose – please, don't just choose one for the sake of being part of it if you don't feel an affinity with it.

I look forward to seeing the finished book (and website! - if anybody would be interested in volunteering their site-making services, that would be amazing).

Thanks as always.

Wow! This sounds so fun!

Hmm, can I have glove #262? If not, 252 would also be fine!
